Visiting from a land far, far away, Billy the Bookworm will be making a special appearance at Salford Shopping Centre in celebration of World Book Day.

On Saturday 3rd March, the centre will welcome children and local shoppers to hear Billy reading a range of literary favourites every half an hour between 10am–4pm.

From classics such as the Mr Men series, to the works of much loved authors including David Walliams, Dr Seuss and Beatrix Potter, Billy the Bookworm will bring a day of fun and inspiration to Salford Shopping Centre and children in the local community.

Not only will little ones be able to hear their favourite stories, they will also have the chance to win an array of prizes by coming to the centre dressed as their favourite book character.

The following weekend on Saturday 10th March, local mums will be in for a treat when the centre will be celebrating Mother’s Day with free nail treatments between 11am-2pm and complimentary eyebrow threading between 11-3pm. There will also be a massage chair for tired mums to try out and put their feet up on the day.

The Creation Station will be on hand between 11am-2pm helping children to make the perfect gifts for mum, including Mother’s Day cards, key rings and beautiful bookmarks.

As well as fun and crafts, the centre is also offering shoppers the chance to nominate their marvellous mums to win a fantastic spa experience at The Lowry Spa in Salford.

Entries for the competition will be accepted at the centre for one day only on Saturday 10th March and the winner will be announced on Monday 12th March.

Centre Manager, Sabri Marsaoui, commented, “At Salford Shopping Centre, we love to bring the community together through family activities.

“Whether it’s Harry Potter or Cinderella the little ones choose to dress up as on World Book Day, we can’t wait to promote the joys of reading and help bring childrens’ favourite stories to life.

“We’re also very excited about being able to offer local mums a well deserved treat on Saturday 10th March, as well as providing the opportunity for shoppers and kids to nominate their mum for an amazing spa prize.”
