Kids get crafty for mum!

The centre hosted a Mother’s Day Craft Workshop event on Saturday 5th March, during which little ones painted owl shaped trinket boxes which could then be taken home to give to mum.

The fun event gave them the chance to try their hand at creative techniques using specialist paints, brushes, glitter, gems and pasta shapes. All materials were provided and supervisors gave help and guidance.

It was great to see lots of happy families turning out to get crafty. All the tables at the workshop were filled, with 158 children taking part in the activities! Tots produced some colourful creations and the event proved to be a great opportunity for the ‘grown ups’ to spend quality time with them.



Alongside the workshop, the centre ran a Facebook competition encouraging people to like and share a graphic publicising the event, with the chance to win a bottle of Givenchy Dahlia Divin courtesy of The Fragrance Shop.

The promotion achieved a reach of 7,808 people on social media and an engagement rate of 5%. Juliet McArdle won the competition and is due to be presented with her prize at the centre later this week.

Increase in Footfall

Overall the event was a huge success, with all feedback forms given out on the day unanimous in their positive comments. The other important indicator of success was an increase in footfall to the shopping centre compared to the previous Saturday and the same Saturday in 2015:

  • Total footfall for Saturday 5th March: 26,276
  • This was up 12% compared to the previous Saturday
  • It was also up 14% compared to the same Saturday in 2015
