Spring Fashion from Peacocks
10th March 2016
Sunshine, is that you? After a long old winter, we can’t wait to begin shedding layers and embracing colour again. We’re not out of the woods yet but even later sunsets and crisp mornings have got us feeling excited for the year ahead.
So hit refresh this season with Peacock’s hot new fashions and accessories that’ll bring you into spring. Here are their top six must-haves:
If we were in the 90s film Clueless we’d probably turn to the camera, exhale a loud sigh and say “Cheerleading is back? AS IF.” But no, these aren’t the same pom poms made of tinsel that accompany dance routines – they’re fluffy, small and come in the form of keyrings, earrings and are sewn onto jumpers for embellishment. We’re not sure how this fluffy obsession became so popular but it’s now de rigeur to have a cute pom pom attached to your bag. Alternatively, they make hunting for keys a lot easier.
Get Tied Up
Every season brings that IT-piece to the high street. Last season it was the sleeveless jacket and this season it’s the turn of the lace up top. Giving a playful update to the usual plain top, you can show off a teeny bit of cleavage while keeping it chic. Style it with a gilet and jeans or tuck it into an A-line skirt. Work it, girl!
The seventies are still hot news in fashion world and fringing is a subtle way to nod to the trend. A fringed jacket or bag has an edge over plain styles giving a contemporary twist to an otherwise plain outfit.
Channel Tailored Chic
This season, tailored trousers will replace jeans in a big way as fashionistas swap skinny denim for cigarette styles, culottes and cropped trews. Wear with loafers and a blouse for the 9-5 or a figure hugging top and statement jewellery in the evening.
The shirt dress is here and it’s ready to shake up your work wardrobe tenfold. Wearing the usual skinnies and shirt combo to the office can get old, not to mention uncomfortable, but often the only alternative is a super tight boardroom dress. Until now. Smart enough to rock the office and a doddle to style. Grab a pair of tights, some boots and you’re good to go. The perfect transitional piece, turn your shift dress into an evening look by adding heels and letting your hair down.
And last but not least, Spring is for introducing more colour into your wardrobe. When the sunshine hits, turn to sugary pastels and light hues for your new season fix and leave the monochrome for rainy days.
